Incredible antique, entirely handsewn chinese robe likely from the late 19th/early 20th century. This robe was meant for cold weather as it is insulated with cotton batting. The silk Lining is quilted.
This is an example of a traditional Qing dynasty Chang Pao men's robe with horse shoe sleeves to cover the hands in the cold, a rounded collar and 4 slits for riding, typical of the northern Manchu costume. Entirely made from silk, this would have been made for a member of high society.
The condition is very good with only one seam repair need (see photos) No stains or holes. Some wear on the interior fine silk as expected for its age.
